Our objective is to provide parents with an understanding of their child's disability and the specific needs their child has, while facilitating a positive family dynamic. Consultations are available to better understand the needs of each child; and just like no two children's needs are the same, no two situations are the same within a family. This gives us the opportunity to see the history of caregiving, how the child has progressed and what services and programs we can offer the child to achieve their learning goals.
It is important to understand that children with disabilities may not be able to communicate their needs or express how they are feeling. We provide the appropriate training for parent(s)/guardian(s) to understand the signs when their child is having a difficult time expressing their mental or physical emotions or displaying inappropriate behaviour. Parent(s)/guardian(s) have access to a wide variety of resources and tools to advocate for their children when they are in distress.
With our extensive services and programs, Little Treasures also understands the importance of reinforcing classroom learning both at home and in social settings. We work collaboratively with the parent(s)/guardian(s) to develop behavioural and learning tools & resources you can use in everyday situations.
We also encourage family members of our students to participate in our many workshops and support groups.
Parent Support Groups create the opportunity for parent(s)/guardian(s) to discuss any issues, concerns or challenges, provide support and ideas, and share resources and experiences.
Parent Workshops are developed to provide parent(s)/guardian(s) the opportunity to be introduced to the available services and programs offered at Little Treasures and better understand which are best in developing their child's academic learning, behavioural skills and social interactions.
